Last July, Vince McMahon departed from WWE’s day-to-day operations and appointed Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan as Co-CEOs of WWE. Triple H then took control of WWE’s creative department and made a lot of changes.

Earlier this year, WWE introduced a new premium live event to the fans called “Day 1”. The inaugural WWE Day 1 PLE took place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The company originally planned Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title as the main event of the show, but it was later changed. Instead, a fatal five-way match took place for the WWE Championship as the main event, which was won by Lesnar.

Brandon Thurston of WrestleNomics has reported that WWE has canceled the upcoming Day 1 PLE which is scheduled to take place from State Farm Arena in Atlanta on January 1st, 2023. Thurston also noted that there’s no premium live event between Survivor Series and Royal Rumble PLEs.

WWE’s “Day 1” premium live event isn’t taking place, according to multiple sources. The event originally scheduled for January 1, 2023 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta isn’t being rescheduled or rebranded. There’s no PLE for WWE expected between Survivor Series on November 26 and Royal Rumble on January 28. We couldn’t confirm a reason but the cancellation could be related to appeasing WWE’s business partner NBCUniversal.

We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
