Vince McMahon banned several words when he was in charge of WWE. One word on McMahon’s banned words list is “wrestling.” Yeah! McMahon didn’t allow anyone to say the word “wrestling” on WWE television.
WWE CEO Nick Khan also stated that “WWE is not a wrestling company, in fact, we don’t use that term here.” Last July, McMahon decided to step down from WWE duties. The new regime gave the wrestlers a lot of freedom. Therefore, some superstars openly used the word “wrestling” on television.
Last January, Vince McMahon returned to the WWE office to facilitate the sale process. McMahon was also spotted backstage on the March 6th episode of Monday Night RAW.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that a WWE superstar had to reshoot a segment because of using the word “wrestling” on this week’s Monday Night RAW. It appears that McMahon is involved in the creative team.
“If you haven’t seen the fingerprints of Vince McMahon on camera, and there are little things here and there, there was a pre-tape interview on the 3/20 Raw where somebody used the term “wrestling” and they had to redo. Granted since Reigns and Rhodes used the term pro wrestlers in their promo on the same show.”
