This past Sunday, NXT Battleground took place at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. Ilja Dragunov defeated Dijak in a Last Man Standing Match while Tiffany Stratton was crowned the new NXT Women’s Champion by defeating Lyra Valkyria at the show.

WRKD Wrestling reported that both NXT Women’s Championship match and the Last Man Standing match were praised by the management. They also noted that Imperium will get a new member following SummerSlam this August. WWE creative team has discussed adding Ilja Dragunov to Imperium.

“Tiffany Stratton vs. Lyra Valkaria and Ilja Dragunov vs. Dijak were praised in particular backstage.

There is still talk of possibly calling up Druganov following Summerslam, potentially joining Imperium.”

Ilja Dragunov made his WWE debut on the May 15th, 2019 episode of NXT UK. Two years later, Dragunov defeated Gunther at NXT TakeOver 36 to become the new NXT UK Champion, marking the end of Gunther’s 870 days title reign. Last July, he had to vacate the title due to injury.
