This past Monday on RAW, CM Punk announced that he suffered a torn right triceps. The injury occurred after taking a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre during the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Punk said he will miss this year’s WrestleMania.
CM Punk was supposed to face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania before the injury. The company has to alter a lot of WrestleMania plans.
Many assumed that Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble match due to Punk sustaining an injury during the match. However, WWE always planned Cody as the winner for this year’s Royal Rumble match.
Seth Rollins convinced Cody Rhodes to face him at WrestleMania on this week’s RAW. Fightful Select noted that the segment was added because of CM Punk’s injury.
“The creative on WWE Raw adjusted from what was planned as of Saturday night at the WWE Royal Rumble. We’re told that is directly tied to CM Punk’s injury, and that the Seth Rollins/Cody segment was added as a result of Punk’s injury.”
