Earlier this year, William Regal was released from his WWE contract. At the time, Vince McMahon was the CEO of the company. Regal then joined AEW and made his debut at Revolution pay-per-view. He then became the manager of Jon Moxley and they formed a faction called Blackpool Fight Club with Bryan Danielson. Later, Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli joined the group.

Last month, William Regal turned on Jon Moxley by giving brass knuckles to MJF during the main event at Full Gear pay-per-view. However, this past Wednesday, MJF attacked Regal from behind with brass knuckles. As a result, Regal was stretchered out of the arena.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer has confirmed this past Wednesday was the last day of William Regal with AEW.

“Regal’s gone. It’s not like maybe he’s gone. I believe that’s his farewell.

I believe there’s going to be something on Wednesday’s show where there will be something addressing certain things. That story is supposed to keep going in some way. But he is going back to WWE. That’s just the deal. I’ve had so many different people tell me so many different stories. The primary source story was that his contract was short-term. The WWE side says that he had an out.

The closest thing to what I would say is official would be he signed a short-term deal. Others say he had an out or Tony gave him an out. Whatever it was, I certainly know that when he signed it was a 3-year deal supposedly and nine months now it’s over. It sounds weird.”

Fightful Select also confirmed that William Regal was officially done with AEW this past Wednesday.

We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
