Last night’s SmackDown kicked off with the segment between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare reminded Reigns of what he was done over the past seven years and also referenced the “All In” pay-per-view by saying, “There’s no way 10,000 people would pay to see my buddy’s little indie show.”
The Tribal Chief then reminded Cody that he is never wrestled for the main titles in WWE or even headlined WrestleMania before.
Roman Reigns added that he learned a lot of things from his father and Cody’s father. Reigns also said that Dusty Rhodes never mentioned anything about Cody Rhodes. Reigns said, “It was like you did not exist.” Reigns further stated that “If there’s anything he didn’t teach you, I will.”
Cody Rhodes then said that the only way he can build his reputation is by beating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. Rhodes said, “The only way that I can exist is by beating you at WrestleMania. So absolutely, Roman Reigns, sir, champ, may the better man win.”
After SmackDown went off the air, Cody Rhodes faced Finn Balor in a singles match. The American Nightmare hit a Cross Rhodes on Balor to pick up the victory. Following the match, Cody thanked the fans at the arena.
