Wade Barrett was the winner of NXT’s first season and the leader of Nexus, the faction that dominated WWE in 2010.

However, the company released him in May 2016. Since then Barrett did not wrestle in any promotion. In 2020, Wade Barret made his return to WWE as NXT commentator.

PWInsider reported that Wade Barrett is scheduled to appear on the upcoming episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Worcester, MA. Although, there’s no exact report about Barrett’s role on SmackDown.

Wade Barrett is slated to be at tomorrow’s Friday Night Smackdown taping in Worcester, MA PWInsider has learned.

Barrett has been part of the NXT broadcast team since his return to WWE. While it has not been confirmed at this point numerous sources have said that he will be calling the show along with Michael Cole, as Pat McAfee will be fulfilling his ESPN commitments.

Wade Barrett could be the new commentator on the blue brand until Pat McAfee returns.

We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
