AJ Styles’ future in WWE has been the subject of speculation, especially as he nears the end of his in-ring career. A recent report from Sean Ross of Fightful Select has shed light on his current WWE contract situation. According to sources close to Styles, the former two-time WWE Champion has signed a one-year extension with WWE. However, details such as when the extension was signed or when it expires remain unclear.
“Fightful Select spoke to those familiar with the situation, who claimed that those close to Styles said he had signed a one-year extension with WWE. We did not get any clarity as to when the extension would have been signed, or when it would expire.”
In April 2022, Styles revealed that he had exercised an option to extend his WWE contract, but didn’t specify the duration of the extension. It’s also unclear whether WWE has added extra time to his contract because of previous injuries and time away from the ring.
Now 48 years old, AJ Styles has publicly stated that he plans to retire from in-ring competition before turning 50. Despite his upcoming retirement, Styles has expressed interest in remaining with WWE in a non-wrestling capacity after his professional wrestling career ends.
