Last year, Sheamus formed a team called, “Brawling Brutes” after Butch joined the faction on the March 11th episode of SmackDown. Brawling Brutes then feuded with New Day, Imperium, and The Bloodline on WWE television. However, they were unable to win any championship as a faction.
Last week on SmackDown, Sheamus and Ridge Holland competed against Street Profits, Hit Row, The OC, Pretty Deady, and LWO in a Tag Team Gauntlet match that determined the No. 1 contenders for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles. Pretty Deadly picked up the pinfall victory over Brawling Brutes to earn the opportunity to face Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
Meanwhile, Butch qualified for the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match. However, he isn’t a leading candidate to win the MITB contract.
In an interview with Metro, Sheamus expressed his frustration with WWE creative team. The former World Champion stated that they didn’t receive opportunities to showcase what they can do as a faction.
“I just don’t think they’ve really capitalized on the group [Brawling Brutes]. I don’t think they’ve really let us show what we can do. This stop/start stuff is really hard when you’re trying to highlight young talent. It’s frustrating, you know? So I dunno [sic], maybe we’ll get an opportunity to show what we can really do as a group because a lot of those other groups who are out there now have definitely got an opportunity that we haven’t had to do some storyline stuff, some character stuff.”
