Ric Flair Says WWE Right Now Is Very Political

Last October, Ric Flair signed with All Elite Wrestling to join Sting’s retirement tour. Since then, the WWE Hall of Famer has been present in every Sting’s match.

Ric Flair last appeared on AEW television this past Wednesday. At the show, Sting and Darby Allin defeated Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs in a Tag Team match.

In an interview with OutKick, Ric Flair was asked about what he thinks about the current WWE product compared to the 1980s. The Nature Boy said that WWE is very political now.

“Well, I like the fact that the kids make a lot of money. That’s the most important thing. Unlike myself, they are more conscious because of the people around them and the culture being different [from] taking care of their money, paying taxes on time, stuff like that. It’s really corporate now, and I dressed the part, but I could never think like that. I don’t have the patience. AEW [is] very professional, it’s just an easier pace. There are politics everywhere in the world, but the WWE right now is very political.”

Ric Flair was then asked why he thinks that way. He said the following:

“I don’t know. The fight for control. Everybody wants to run WWE. I liked the way Vince [McMahon] ran it. For better or worse, everybody knew where they stood a little better than they do now. Social media is out of control with stories. You don’t even know what’s real anymore.”
