Reason Why Sting Decided To Wrestle Young Bucks In His Retirement Match

Reason Why Sting Decided To Wrestle Young Bucks In His Retirement Match

The legendary Sting’s final pro wrestling match will take place on March 3rd at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. As of now, more than twelve thousand tickets have been sold for the show.

This past Wednesday, Sting and Darby Allin faced Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs in a Tornado Tag match. The Icon pinned Hobbs to pick up the victory.

After the match, Tony Schiavone asked Sting, “I have one question, for your final match, who will your opponent be?” The Young Bucks then made their return and stared at Sting and Darby Allin.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that Sting decided to wrestle Young Bucks in his retirement match because he loved the 2022 Forbidden Door match. At the show, Sting, Allin & Shingo Takagi defeated El Phantasmo, Matt & Nick Jackson in a Six-Man Tag Team match.

“When he [Sting] was asked who he wanted to face, they [Young Bucks] were his choice, as he loved doing the Forbidden Door 2022 match in Chicago.”

Meltzer also noted that Matt & Nick Jackson were slated to take a long hiatus before Sting requested this match.
