This past Friday on SmackDown, Karrion Kross faced Rey Mysterio in a singles match. Many fans thought Kross will pick up the win easily but Rey Mysterio shocked all by pinning Kross to win the match.
Last night, Rey Mysterio was supposed to enter the men’s Royal Rumble match as the #17 entry. However, Mysterio didn’t appear at the Rumble. Dominik Mysterio then made his entrance as #18 by wearing his father’s mask.
Many fans expected that father and son duo would meet in the men’s Rumble match but that didn’t happen. WWE also didn’t provide any detail about Mysterio’s absence.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Rey Mysterio suffered an injury during a match against Karrion Kross this past SmackDown, which was the reason why Mysterio didn’t show up.
“Rey Mysterio was injured last night in Laredo at the SmackDown tapings in the match with Karrion Kross. He was supposed to be in the Rumble. That spot was changed, and then what happened was they did a spot where he’s supposed to come out, and he doesn’t come out, and Dominik comes out. I think they were supposed to do some teasers in the match to set up their WrestleMania match, but obviously, they couldn’t do it because Rey’s injured….Hopefully, Rey’s injury isn’t anything serious, but I guess it was serious enough where he couldn’t do what was planned in the match.”
We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
