Reason For Saraya’s Absence From AEW Dynamite

By The Spotlight StaffAugust 31, 2023
Reason For Saraya's Absence From AEW Dynamite

Last night’s AEW Dynamite took place at the NOW Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Tony Khan had to make several changes to the show due to unforeseen circumstances. Khan tweeted the following before the AEW Dynamite broadcast.

“Due to minor illnesses to big talent traveling this week, +
Hurricane Idalia affecting flights,
I’ve changed some plans for #AEWDynamite TONIGHT!”

Due to minor illnesses to big talent traveling this week, +
Hurricane Idalia affecting flights,
I've changed some plans for #AEWDynamite TONIGHT!

Coming off All In, @AEW's greatest night + the most tickets sold for any wrestling show ever,
expect a great Dynamite TONIGHT on TBS!

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that Saraya and Swerve Strickland were unable to attend last night’s AEW Dynamite due to illnesses. Meltzer also noted that many AEW wrestlers who live in Florida, including Kenny Omega, couldn’t be able to come out of the state due to Hurricane Idalia.

Saraya became the AEW Women’s Champion by defeating Hikaru Shida, Toni Storm, and Britt Baker in a Four-Way match at All In. Swerve Strickland and Christian Cage were defeated by Sting and Darby Allin in a Coffin match this past Sunday. Kenny Omega, Adam Page and Kota Ibushi were unable to win the Six-Man Tag Team match at All In.
