Last April, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn became the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions by defeating Fallon Henley and Kiana James at NXT Stand & Deliver. Fyre and Dawn were then drafted to SmackDown during the 2023 WWE Draft.
Meanwhile, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler became the new Women’s Tag Team Champions by defeating Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi, Bayley & Iyo Sky and Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville in a Fatal Four-Way Tag Team match on the May 29th episode of WWE RAW.
Last night on SmackDown, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler challenged Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn to a Women’s Tag Team Titles Unification match. Fyre and Isla Dawn accepted the challenge. The bout is scheduled to take place three weeks later on SmackDown.
BWE reported that the idea to unify the tag team championships came from WWE President Nick Khan. He has wanted to see NXT be the third brand, not as a developmental brand.
