NJPW Star Suffered Injury During AEW Rampage

New Japan Soul events will take place from June 16th to July 5th. Shota Umino was supposed to compete at this past Sunday’s show in Sapporo. However, he missed the event due to injuries.

The 27-year-old announced on X that his hip was fractured and had a strained disc. Umino also stated that he expects to come back by mid-July.

“I had a fractured hip bone and a strained disc 😢

It is an L45 intervertebral disc. I also had an MRI. Tomorrow I will return to Tokyo somehow.

I’m sure I’ll be back by G1. I’m going to take a break for a while. Sorry.”

Shota Umino last competed on June 12th at the AEW Rampage tapings, where he defeated Rocky Romero.

腰骨の骨折と椎間板のぎっくり腰でした😢

L45の椎間板です。MRIも撮りました。明日何とかして東京へ帰ります。

G1までには必ず帰ってきます。しばらく休みます。すみません。 pic.twitter.com/CIng7DMJcT
