Rusev also known as Miro made his debut on the WWE main roster in 2014. He had memorable matches and moments during his WWE tenure. However, Vince McMahon didn’t see him as a top superstar in the company. Rusev was then released from WWE in April 2020 as part of the budget cut.

Later, the former United States Champion joined WWE’s rival promotion, AEW as Miro. He made his AEW debut on the September 9th episode of AEW Dynamite, where he was revealed to be Kip Sabian’s best man. However, Miro had a lackluster run in AEW and rarely appeared on AEW television this year.

During an interview with The Mike Wennmacher Show, Miro’s wife Lana said that Miro will return to WWE at some point.

“Rusev Day will never die. It’s always going to be around, the kids are gonna wanna sing it, and I’m sure it will make a return in WWE at some point. You know, Rusev will, whenever he shows back in and whatever freakin’ name or gimmick or character at some point in WWE, it’s going to be iconic… Let’s be honest, we know that everyone always returns back to WWE at some point.”
