Jon Moxley last competed in NJPW at the Dominion event, where he teamed with Claudio Castagnoli & Shota Umino to face Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomohiro Ishii for the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships. However, Moxley’s team was unable to win the titles.

NJPW Strong Independence Day is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 4th & Wednesday, July 5th at Korakuen Hall in Bunkyo-Ku, Tokyo. The former AEW World Champion is set to compete in a tag team match at the show.

Earlier this week, El Desperado challenged Jon Moxley to a rematch. Moxley and Desperado faced each other at NJPW Music City Mayhem last year. The match ended via referee stoppage and Moxley was declared the winner.
