John Laurinaitis Files Sworn Statement Regarding Janel Grant Lawsuit

In January, a former WWE employee, Janel Grant, filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE for physical and emotional abuse.

Recently, McMahon and WWE filed motions to compel arbitration. The lawsuit has been paused by Grant at the request of the United States Justice Department.

PWInsider reported that John Laurinaitis filed a sworn statement before the United States District Court of Connecticut to move the lawsuit to private arbitration.

“Laurinaitis filed a “sworn statement of facts” citing:

  • As a full-time WWE employee at the time of Grant’s NDA with Vince McMahon and WWE, Laurinaitis “believed” he was a “released party” from any and all Lawsuits brought by Janel Grant.
  • Per the terms of the Confidential Settlement Agreement, any issues that needed to be resolved would be required to take place in binding arbitration under the Federal Arbitration Act.”
