Last week on SmackDown, John Cena appeared on screen and revealed himself to be Kevin Owens’ tag team partner. Cena and Owens are set to face Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn on the December 30th episode of Friday Night SmackDown. It will be Cena’s first match since SummerSlam last year.

The 16-time world champion has rumored to have a match at WrestleMania 39. However, John Cena’s new movie “Ricky Stanicky” will start production from February through March in Melbourne, Australia. Therefore, it’s very hard for Cena to allocate the time to appear on WWE television during the WrestleMania season.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer has provided a brief update about John Cena’s WrestleMania 39 status. Meltzer noted that backstage WWE officials expected Cena will compete at the show of shows.

“the belief is that Cena will be working WrestleMania but what we were told is that he’s working on his schedule to make sure it works, but the belief is that he’ll get it done. Cena will be unavailable to WWE through most of February and March due to filming a movie outside the US.”

We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
