On June 1st,Carlito was officially informed that his contract would not be renewed, making him a free agent as of last weekend.
In a new interview on Busted Open Radio, former WWE Superstar Carlito opened up about his recent departure from WWE. While he’s not shocked by the release, Carlito admitted he was disappointed WWE didn’t allow him to wrap up his storyline with The Judgment Day, calling it a “disrespect to the fans” when stories are just dropped without an ending.
“I wasn’t too surprised or too shocked. I signed for two years, and it actually went better than I thought it would go. The only thing is, I’m a professional, you know what I mean? They could have told me and I would have, you know, ‘Ok, at least let me finish up the story for The Judgment Day, so they can keep on going.’ I think it’s a disrespect to the fans that they just dropped the storylines.”
Despite being 46 years old and knowing he wouldn’t be a top priority in WWE’s creative plans, Carlito says he still managed to bring his own comedy and creativity to the table, even though WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque may not be a fan of the Carlito character.
“Those were all my ideas. I took, literally, ‘creative has nothing for you,’ and I made something of it. I went in there and I said, ‘I’m not going to complain.’ I’m one of the older guys, I’m not going to get prioritized and I’m not gonna get pushed and Triple H is not a fan of Carlito.”
