Carla Esparza To Retire After UFC 307 Fight

Carla Esparza (19-7) last competed at UFC 281 in 2022, where she lost the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship to Zhang Weili in the second round. Esparza is scheduled to make her return on Saturday, October 5th at UFC 307 against Tecia Pennington (13-7) in a strawweight bout.

On X, the former two-time UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion stated that she would be retiring from MMA after her UFC 307 fight.

I will be stepping into The UFC Octagon on Saturday, October 5th for the final time. After almost 15 years as a professional, fighting the best of the best, I feel it’s time to hang up my gloves.

Esparza started her MMA journey in 2010. She made her UFC debut at UFC 185 against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
