Last night, The New Day faced Pretty Deadly for the NXT Tag Team Titles at WWE NXT Deadline. In the closing moment of the match, New Day hit their UpUpDownDown finisher on Elton Prince and pick up the victory.
This title victory made Kofi Kingston a 15-time Tag Team Champion in WWE. Kofi now has the most tag team title reigns in WWE history surpassing Booker T and Edge. Also, The New Day became the Triple Crown Tag Team Champions after last night’s victory.
A fellow New Day member Big E issued the following statement after Kofi and Xavier’s historic win.

During the NXT Deadline press conference, Shawn Michaels praised The New Day.
“The creative team putting it together which, I think, they did a fantastic job. And then, of course, New Day coming here adding a huge twist for us. They gave a big surprise by winning the NXT tag team titles which, obviously, has got to add to their unbelievably large resume, which I’m sure they’re giddy about as well.”
