WWE SummerSlam 2023 Predictions, How To Watch, Start Time

By The Spotlight StaffAugust 5, 2023
WWE SummerSlam 2023 Predictions, How To Watch, Start Time

The 36th annual WWE SummerSlam premium live event is scheduled to take place tonight at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Seven matches are confirmed for the event including four Championship bouts.

SummerSlam is starting at 8 p.m. ET and the kickoff show is one hour before the main card at 7 p.m. Fans in the United States have been able to watch the show on Peacock and others can watch the event on WWE Network as usual.

Here are the predictions for the 2023 WWE SummerSlam.

SummerSlam Battle Royal

Sheamus, Karrion Kross, Grayson Waller, Shinsuke Nakamura, LA Knight, Santos Escobar, Matt Riddle, AJ Styles, and The Miz have been announced for the match so far. Our Prediction: LA Knight

Gunther vs. Drew McIntyre for the Intercontinental Championship

Last month, Gunther retained his Intercontinental Title by defeating Matt Riddle at Money in the Bank. After the match, Drew McIntyre made his return and delivered a Claymore Kick to The Ring General. Gunther accepted McIntyre’s Intercontinental Title challenge on the July 24th episode of Monday Night RAW.

The Ring General is 34 days away to become the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. Therefore, we don’t think Gunther will drop the title at SummerSlam. Our Prediction: Gunther retains the Intercontinental Title.

Ricochet vs. Logan Paul

The storyline between Logan Paul and Ricochet started after their botched spot at Money in the Bank. Logan stated in his podcast that Ricochet is unprofessional. The two met each other couple of times on Monday Night RAW. This past Monday, Logan Paul and Ricochet got into a brawl. The Maverick got the upper hand.

Logan Paul has lost a lot of matches since Crown Jewel PLE last November. Therefore, WWE has wanted to rebuild Logan’s momentum. It’s guaranteed that the two will give the fans an excellent match. Our Prediction: Logan Paul wins the match.

Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules Match

Last month, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler defended their Women’s Tag Team Championships against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez at Money in the Bank. During the match, Baszler attacked Rousey.

Two weeks ago, The Baddest Woman on the Planet told Baszler that she will face her at SummerSlam. WWE aired footage of Rousey & Baszler’s individual interviews this past Monday on RAW. Baszler said in the interview that Rousey used her.

The only way to win this match is by knockout or submission. This could be Ronda Rousey’s final match in WWE. Our Prediction: Shayna Baszler wins the match.

Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair for the WWE Women’s Championship

Asuka became the WWE Women’s Champion by defeating Bianca Belair at Night of Champions. Charlotte Flair then made her return on the June 10th episode of SmackDown and challenged Asuka for the title. The match took place on the June 30th episode of SmackDown. However, the match ended in a disqualification after Belair’s interference.

The EST faced Asuka for the WWE Women’s Title on the July 14th edition of SmackDown. That match also ended in a disqualification after Charlotte accidentally speared Belair.

This is the hardest match in the SummerSlam card to predict. Ms. Money in the Bank Iyo Sky will play a key role in the bout. We think The Empress has a high chance of retaining the title. Our Prediction: Asuka retains the WWE Women’s Title.

Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Finn Bálor for the World Heavyweight Championship

Seth Rollins became the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion at Night of Champions. Finn Balor was so close to winning the title at Money in the Bank before Damian Priest distracted him. In the past weeks, Priest and Balor had issues. However, Balor gave MITB briefcase to Priest to cash in during the main event of this past Monday on RAW.

The Visionary will drop the title to Finn Balor at SummerSlam. However, Balor’s second world title reign could be limited to a few minutes. We think Damian Priest will cash in his MITB contract on Balor to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar

The storyline between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar started on the April 3rd episode of Monday Night RAW. Both men scored 1-1 in the feud. Cody won the first match at Backlash. Lesnar picked up the victory at Night of Champions. In the past weeks, The Beast and The American Nightmare got into brawls. Each time, Lesnar got the upper hand.

SummerSlam would be the final encounter of both men. We think Brock Lesnar will put Cody Rhodes over at the show. Our Prediction: Cody Rhodes wins the match.

Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa brutally attacked Jimmy Uso during the Tribal Court segment on the July 7th episode of SmackDown. Jey Uso then challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title to get revenge.

The Tribal Chief and Paul Heyman tried to put the blame on Jey for Jimmy’s hospitalization in the past weeks. However, the Elders wanted to solve the matter in a Tribal Combat. Last week, Jey Uso told Roman Reigns that he already pinned Reigns and he will do it again. Reigns and Sikoa then attacked Jey in the main event of last week’s SmackDown.

The Undisputed WWE Universal Title and Tribal Chief position are on the line at SummerSlam. This would be the perfect time for Jimmy Uso to return. However, Jey won’t be the one who dethrone Roman Reigns. Our Prediction: Roman Reigns retains the title and will remain as The Tribal Chief.
