Hollywood Studios & WGA Reach Tentative Deal To End Strike, The Rock & John Cena’s WWE Status Revealed

Hollywood Studios & WGA Reach Tentative Deal To End Strike, The Rock & John Cena's WWE Status Revealed

Earlier this month, John Cena made his WWE return amid the Hollywood strike. WWE announced Cena’s schedule until late October. Meanwhile, The Rock also came back to WWE after four years. On the Pat McAfee show, The Great One indicated that he is open for a match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Both Hollywood’s megastars have free time due to the ongoing strike. The Writers Guild of America started their strike last May, demanding increases in royalty payments for streaming content and guaranteeing that AI won’t impact their jobs. Meanwhile, SAG-AFTRA, The American actors’ union began their strike last July, demanding better pay.

The Writers Guild of America reached a tentative agreement with entertainment companies to end their strike. The WGA came to an agreement after negotiation for five days.

The New York Times reported that the union leaders of WGA are set to vote to approve the contract on Tuesday. If it is approved, then the writers can resume their duties after the contract is formalized.

However, the SAG-AFTRA is still on strike which means television shows and movie projects won’t resume. Therefore, John Cena and The Rock are unable to resume their job.

As of now, there’s no word on whether both parties (SAG-AFTRA and Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers) are scheduled for negotiations.
