The Garcia Twins Explain Why They Dropped "Bella" Name

The Bella Twins made their WWE debut in 2008. Since then both women involved in various storylines and accomplished a lot of things in WWE. Nikki and Brie also had a reality television show called, “Total Bellas” which helped them to captivate the mainstream attention. The Bella Twins were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021.

Last March, Nikki and Brie announced their departure from WWE. Both women then dropped their “Bella” name and reintroduced themselves as The Garcia Twins.

In an interview with “LIVE with Kelly and Mark”, Nikki Garcia clarified the reason behind their name change. Nikki said that they decided to use their real names after retiring from pro wrestling.

“When we were wrestlers, the Bella twins, that was our gimmick name. So now that we’re no longer wrestlers when we were retired we’re like ‘Let’s go back to our roots.’ Mexican and Italian. We are entering this new chapter, about to be 40 in November. So we thought you know entering this next decade of our lives, let’s go back to our roots as entrepreneurs and mothers.”
